Iain Barr Fly Fishing - Testimonials
Jeff Davidson wrote: - I would recommend these flies to anyone they work brilliant I have caught loads of trout using these dancers, Many thanks.
Matt Jones wrote: - Iain, many thanks for the flies - and also for the extra ones. I think that it would be fair to say that you lead the market in terms of fly quality. I tie most of mine but fellow anglers have been buying your flies for a number of years.
I haven't had time to tie a great deal over the winter so a friend recommended that I get some from you. Top advice! I'll probably get a few more this week - Chew and Blagdon await! Congrats on being world champ. Best wishes.
Leigh Randell wrote: - Hi just wanted to say a big thank you for the quality of the fly's you sent me. I used them on 10 Feb. 2010 a a local fishery called Manningford. It was a cold windy day and it snowed very heavy at times. People left when the snow started and not many fish were being caught. Well on went one of the Black and Green UV Wine Dancers I purchased from you and instant success.
I took my 4 fish all on this fly with in 1 hour 35 min. I ended up giving 2 other anglers who were sticking the snow out a fly each and instant success came there way. I told them where I got them from as they were keen to purchase some. Thank you again your fly's saved 3 anglers from blanking on a cold windy snowy day. regards Leigh Randell.
Arjan Maat from Belgium wrote: - Hi Iain, first of all I want to thank you for the excellent service you gave me. Your effort to send the second package by first class mail, kind of saved my day. The bloodworms you send me look great but I couldn’t cast them with the headwinds I suffered with, but I’ll definitely use them next time. Your crunchers made my day at Avon Springs unforgettable, I caught 3 rainbows between 4,5 and 6 Pounds in 2 hours, only one fly on the 12 ft leader!
I cannot imagine driving 6 hours, and a train ride with the channel tunnel and then blank on such a unique place. I’ll keep posting my success with the other flies, awesome buzzers and the dries. I’ll recommend your flies with all my friends, definitely not to my opponents (Laugh) and off course continue shopping with you. Cheers.

Mike Wellman wrote: Hi Iain, Just a short note of thanks. Your advice you gave me for the 2009 International Police Fly Fishing Competition on Llandegfedd was great - I won the event with 16 fish! The second place was 8 fish and some of the fish were taken on your suggested set up. What a coach eh, kind regards.
Graham Harvey wrote: Your recent selection of dry flies worked just a treat for me down at Llandegfedd last week and helped Scotland win the Police International event for the 4th year in a row. Thanks Graham Harvey
Steve Davies wrote: ANOTHER BLOB MAN !! Iain, tried out your flies yesterday. The fish were not really responding to natural imitations or the usual lures so I tried one of your blobs. Wow, I can see why these things are the subject of debate, the trout couldn't resist them.
I tied on something else for the sake of making a full day of my trip, without success, so I put the blob on again and bagged up. A day that could have been a blank was a success. Incidentally I took a friend for his first ever fishing trip and he caught his first trout, also on the same blob, brilliant. Many thanks, Steve Davies.
Nick Hart wrote: I have been working as a full time fly fishing guide for over a decade and don't have a great deal of time to tie flies. But commercial flies never gave me the variety I needed until Iain Barr suddenly exploded on the scene with his vast selection of variants and innovative patterns.
We stock a huge range in our shop and my boxes are full with everything from Blobs to Dries; I have total faith in them. I use them when I am guiding and I use them when I am fishing. In fact after a 5 year break from competition fishing it was an Iain Barr's flies that I used to qualify into 2009 Lexus European Fly Fishing Championships final to be held in September. Tied on top quality hooks using the best materials money can buy, these flies won't let you down, so my advice is when you go fishing, fish with the Captains Choice!
Chris from Cambridge & Yuri from Wimbledon wrote: Dear Iain, Thanks again for the excellent fishing trip to Foremark on Saturday (21st June 2008). We both learned a great deal and had a terrific day's fishing. You and the people at the fishery really treated us well - great bacon butties! On top of that we caught more and bigger trout on the fly than I have ever caught before. The sight of an Osprey catching a fish really put the icing on the cake of a great day.
Davina Williams wrote: Thank you for sending the flies. The best buzzers I have seen. And I would buy from you again, I will recommend you to my friends, once again thank you.
Peter Andrews wrote: Good afternoon Iain, Just a few lines to say thank you for your very prompt delivery service on my fly order. The flies arrived last week and I put them to good use on Stocks reservoir for their opening day on Saturday. Result 10 good fish landed ( all returned) on a wet and windy day.
The booby pattern proved very effective and more impressively the same fly remained on my 10lb cast all day, without being unduly damaged - its now back in my fly box - these are quality tied flies and I am well impressed with their performance. Roll on the warmer weather so that I can use your buzzer selection, as they also look 'the business'. Kind regards Peter Andrews.
Neil M Robertson wrote: Hi Iain, Flies arrived today and I'm chuffed to bits with them. There's flies then there's Iain Barr flies. Being out of season I'm not going to get much chance to try them out until March. I'll write back after the new season starts and let you know. Asides from that they're a fantastic quality, your service is friendly, I'll be buying more from you. All the best and tight lines.

I learnt alot and will be putting all your advice into practice and hopefully we will catch more trout like we did on the Day. I was just gob smacked at the way you caught fish all day and can see why you fish for England.
I will certainly be having another day with you again to learn some more. You were so friendly and open with advice and banter it really made the day even though we had heavy rain in the afternoon sessions, thanks again.

K-Mizen Yorkshire, wrote: "Dear Iain, ta once again for the flies, I tried you suggestion with the boobies and dries with a Diawl Bach suspended like a washing line, fished static, whilst others were struggling with the usual retrieves & took 8 fish in 2 hours on the Diawl Bach & dry. Everyone else blanked! Another occasion I caught 6, the booby definitely drew the fish, some even tried to take it but I missed those. I am looking forward to my next trip."
